Stüssy and Dashwood Books just released POOLS, a book with photographs by one of surfing and skateboarding’s most influential photographers Craig Fineman. His unique angles and composition made his approach to skateboarding photography so special, as his images also mostly appear to be architectural photographs. Along with the book, Stüssy releases a bunch of desirable, ultra rad t-shirts!

He started to take photos in 1979, helped founding TransWorld Skateboard Magazine in 1983, where he was photo editor for about 20 years. In 2003 he moved on to start The Skateboard Mag: Grant Brittain, one of the most important figures in the skateboard (publishing) world. He released the 80/90 Zine for Arkitip recently.

This is amazing! Jay Howell characters in a cartoon series! Sanjay and Craig is the series on Nick he was talking about in the interview for our State Of Now issue and will be airing this May. Hilarious!

Together they wander the suburbs doing the impossible, walking tightropes, shredding video game world records, posing as doctors, befriending gorillas and basically doing whatever they want to do. Swiss photographer Thomas Stöckli, also known under his moniker Creager – especially as a snowboard photographer, was out chasing for snow and the perfect shot for more than a decade. There is a nice interview on The Morning News where he talks about realizing images he had on his mind for a long time and why he doesn’t see himself shooting snowboard pics for another decade.

Zzz Züri is a new book by Ingo Giezendanner (who also did this and this before) published by the lovely folks of Nieves. I am sure that this guy never sleeps but is always drawing and drawing.
“The drawings were made with felt pen in small notebooks. The hours-long work on the drawings, which are all made right on the spot, displaces Giezendanner into meditation and lets him perceive the urban space in different ways.”

If you have once had the chance to experience the hyperrealistic sculptures of Ron Mueck, you know the score. Deeply touching and disturbing in a way, the sculptures are so realistic in every detail that there is almost no question about, that it actually must be a living being and not just something made from any kind of materials. This week, his new exhibition opened in Paris at Fondation Cartier for which he exclusively made three new sculptures.

This is going to be an interesting film: “Mistaken For Strangers – A year on tour with my brother’s band”. Such a great band.
We’re big fans of Anika‘s LP on Stones Throw from 2010 (best label anyway), where she already showed her love for reinterpreting dusty old songs by putting more dust to it and tweaking it in such a unique way, with the help from a Bristol dub master, Geoff Barrow (Portishead). On her new EP you’ll find some more cover songs as In The City by The Chromatics with a sweet Krautrock twist on the disco original.
Here comes a wonderful blurry and stylish video by German film maker Uli Schueppel for I Go To Sleep (released on the Anika LP, original song by The Kinks).
Yesterday I spotted JR at the cross of Leipziger and Breite Straße, Berlin (see pictures) where he pasted another wall as part of his gallery exhibtion at Galerie Henrik Springmann, starting 17.04.2013 until the end of May. JR is working on more than 15 different buildings in Berlin throughout April.
