No, we don’t write music reviews here … There have been a few chaps we really became fans of during the last time. For example Hessle Audio which we mentioned in a previous post, the label founders BenUFO, Ramadanman and Pangaea are unmistakable and also run a radio show on Rinse.fm. Joy Orbison, sure. Teebs with his unbelievable Ardour LP on Brainfeeder which is simply beautiful and mesmerizing. Pinch with “Croydon House”, uh … Sure there are some more. But there is only one guy, who is completely neutralising our mind at this time, something spiritual: JAMES BLAKE.

There are no other songs at the moment like on his “Klavierwerke EP” or the earlier “CMYK” that make us sit down and breathe deeply. He writes beautiful songs, makes all of the productions and sings himself. He recently announced his full LP coming up in February 2011 and plans to play live gigs with a band, a 100 % live experience! Pure excitement! Is there something better out there? The other tweet was telling: “…you know James Blake’s album is going to make 98% of you give up making music when it comes out.”

Will Bankhead, who will be featured in the upcoming JB. Magazine is the designer of the “Klavierwerke” sleeve (on R & S Records), Erika Wall shot the portrait of James Blake for this record.

We are excited to finish the issue soon, sending it off to Newspaper Club/London and getting back the printed copies.

We Slow Down And Print Things On Paper

JB. — The Crossing Fields Issue from 2006. Yeah!

JB. — The Crossing Fields Issue from 2006. Yeah!

Announcement: If you haven’t heard it tweetin’ already, we are currently producing a MAGAZINE, to be exact, the first issue will be a newspaper! Yeah! Hope you are excited as we are. We will post details about the line-up of artists that are featured in this magazine soon. It’s a great mixture of individuals that are shifting realities, theirs and ours. Lots of interviews, photos, artworks, we even got an exclusive illustration by a very talented drawing dude. Things are progressing slowly, but well, you know that we slow down when everything is going fast. The end comes close, or let’s better say: the new beginning of JB.

There have been a couple of issues years ago, all released online. But there was one printed issue in 2006. We call it the exclusive dummy magazine for the new era of JB. that is coming up! Have a look at our account at issuu.com and get some of our history before we start with the new.
