Something Beautiful and Poignant Can Flow

It has been a bit quiet on this site due to a spot of work and spending the available free time with the offers of both big city and lakeside in the summertime. I also visited my friends next door at Hard Wax and came back with a bunch of new amazing records that soon will be heard on The Dusty Cabinets.

My friend Paul from tenmetal recently linked me to the work of John Paul Thurlow. “Extremely well illustrated magazine covers” he said, and yes, these are truly one of the best black & white illustrations I have seen in a long while. Not sure if it is the simple technique, the style, the idea or just that I am an addicted fan of magazines myself. It probably is all combined. Thurlows’ pencil drawings are perfect reinterpretations of magazine covers, “an attempt to create cover art for every great magazine I own (+ a few I wish I owned)”. As this is an ongoing project and the current headline post counts cover no. 76, I am curious about what he is coming up with. Watch the cover project on his “Covers” blog. More work of him to be found here.
